Ohio Republican lawmakers want you to believe Ohio House Resolution 9 is about requiring voter ID at the polls which is already a thing. But it’s really about restricting voting.
There is a provision in this bill that is being underreported. The provision allows for lawmakers to restrict or cancel both in-person early voting and absentee voting. The measure’s final section asserts that nothing in the resolution requires lawmakers to allow voting in any location or manner other than in person at a polling place on the day of an election.

“I am a husband, father, grandfather, U.S. Army veteran, and factory supervisor who’s spent over 20 years on the line at Toledo Molding & Die in Tiffin,” Jones wrote in his Ballotpedia Candidate Connection survey in January. “I’m running for Ohio State Representative in the 88th District — all of Seneca and Sandusky counties — because I know what it’s like to work hard, make ends meet, and fight for your family.”

Sandusky County Dem Party Chair Chris Liebold was thrilled. "For the Democrat, we increased the number of people running for central committee. Our volunteers were enthusiastic about their job and it helped increase the turnout here, We also had active Congressional primary candidates."

“I’m truly humbled and honored to be the Democratic nominee for Ohio’s 5th District. Thank you to every voter who put their trust in me,” Shaver said in a post-election statement. “There’s real work ahead as we move toward victory over Bob Latta on November 3. Let’s come together to bring new leadership to D.C. and ensure the people of this district have a representative who works for them.”

Under the old map, Latta’s district was rated R +28, according to an analysis by the nonpartisan Inside Elections. The new district, approved last year, is R +21.
Even if some Republican voters have soured on Trump thanks to things like high gasoline prices and the war with Iran, Democrats still face a steep climb.
Of the four Democrats, Shaver came across as the most moderate and pragmatic candidate.
These Sandusky County Democrats won their elections on May 5 to represent their precinct on the SCDP Central Committee member. A Central Committee member is an elected, grassroots party official representing a specific voting precinct. You can think of them as precinct captains. They serve four-year terms, acting as a liaison between local Democrats and party leadership, engaging in voter registration, recruiting candidates, supporting endorsed Democrats, and helping govern the county party.
